Solace Bedside Singers

In the spring of 2018, caring individuals in Huron County, Ontario, came together for the first time as a group. Our goal was, and remains, to provide a musical blanket of comfort to those receiving palliative care, their loved ones, and any staff supporting them.

We are not ‘performers,’ anticipating applause, nor do we expect or desire remuneration. We are friends, seeking to offer care through our music and our presence. Most of our songs are offered a capella; some with gentle guitar or ukulele accompaniment. We try to match the songs we sing with the genre or favourite performer requested by our recipient(s).

Over the years, Solace has engaged at the bedside in hospices, hospital rooms, private homes, and long-term care facilities. We also offer musical support at funerals, graveside services, and celebrations of life. We have demonstrated bedside singing at universities, conferences, and community events.
